Seguimos con el Ford Escort. Y así es como está en este momento, con las calcas puestas:

We continue with the Ford Escort. And that’s how it is at this moment, with the decals on:

Pero vemos el proceso. Empezamos con la pintura de piezas: los extintores con imprimación blanca,  después de pintar los amortiguadores de negro, le ponemos por la parte profunda, una cinta de enmascarar de 0,7 mm:

But let’s go with the process. We started with the painting of parts: the extinguishers with white primer, after painting the black shock absorbers, we put on the deep part, a masking tape of 0.7 mm:

Los pintamos de aluminio y los extintores de rojo:

We paint them in aluminum and fire extinguishers with red:

Al motor, que previamente habíamos pintado de negro, le damos unos tonos de Gun Metal  y Silver con los pigmentos del set C de Tamiya:

To the engine, which we had previously painted in black, we give some shades of Gun Metal and Silver with the pigments of the set C of Tamiya:

Para completar el arco de seguridad, le añadimos tubo de Evergreen, pegándolo con ciano y bicarbonato para que haga una mezcla dura. Después repasaremos dichas uniones con una fresa y el minitaladro:

To complete the safety bow, we add Evergreen tube, sticking it with cyan and bicarbonate to make a hard mix. Then we will review said joints with a milling cutter and the mini drill:

Y a continuación, pintaremos de negro mate de MIG, flojito y poco a poco: el acabado es muy bueno!

Continuamos con los escapes. Unimos las dos partes y procedemos a modificar la salida, ya que no da buena apariencia:

We continue with the exhaust pipes. We join the two parties and proceed to modify the output, since it does not look good:

Para ello, limamos la mitad agrandando el interior del tubo de escape, y le ponemos un recorte de evergreen. Una vez pegado, terminaremos la salida con una fresa y el minitaladro:

To do this, we filed half enlarging the inside of the exhaust pipe, and we put a cut of evergreen. Once stuck, we will finish the output with a milling cutter and the mini drill:

Este es el resultado, mucho más real. Aquí lo vemos listo para pintar, una vez enmasillado y lijado:

A la tapa de válvulas, le practicamos unos agujeros para meter el cable de bujias:

To the valve cover, we drill some holes to put the spark plug wires:

Pasamos al radiador. Le eliminé la parte redonda de arriba, fabricándole otra de plástico. Le di forma añadiéndole tiras de cápsula de botella de vino, así como la entrada del depósito. Aquí lo vemos en su posición dentro del chasis, con el armazón que le he realizado con tiras de Evergreen en forma de esquina:

Let’s go with the radiator. I eliminated the round part from above, making another plastic part. I shaped it by adding strips of wine bottle capsule, as well as the entrance of the deposit. Here we see it in its position inside the chassis, with the frame that I have made with Evergreen strips in the shape of a corner:

En la siguiente foto, muestro los escapes y el radiador, pintados en Aluminio Metal Color de Vallejo:

Seguimos con más piezas. Para hacer el acelerador, marco las líneas en la lata de refresco con un cutter:

We continue with more pieces. To make the accelerator, I mark the lines on the soda can with a cutter:

Después de cortarlo y doblarlo, le añado un hilo de cobre para introducirlo en un agujero del suelo del chasis. De igual forma, a los pedales sobrantes de otro kit, le pongo otro hilo de cobre para sujetarlos en el panel del fondo. Vemos a su lado, los pedales originales y se ve porqué decidí sustituirlos:

After cutting and bending it, I add a copper wire to insert it into a hole in the floor of the chassis. Similarly, to the leftover pedals of another kit, I put another copper wire to hold them in the bottom panel. We see beside them, the original pedals and you can see why I decided to replace them:

A los extintores, les di barniz después de pintarlos de rojo:

Y una vez secos, le puse la calca, el Bare Metal Foil de las fijaciones, y le pinté de Chromo de Molotov a pincel, la base del mecanismo de uso:

Con el minitaladro a modo de torno, y con un redondo de Evergreen, rehice la base de la palanca de cambios:

Siendo el resultado la siguiente foto, que comparamos con el original del kit:

Pasamos a los cristales. Los corté por las esquinas para usar el delantero y trasero, sustituyendo los laterales por láminas transparentes de Evergreen:

We go to the crystals. I cut them at the corners to use the front and back, replacing the sides with transparent Evergreen sheets:

Y pasamos a pintar más piezas con negro mate de MIG, directamente sin imprimar: las calandras delanteras, limpiaparabrisas, fondo de los faros de Renaissance y el fotograbado de los relojes del salpicadero.

And we went on to paint more pieces with black matte MIG, directly unprimed: the front grille, wipers, bottom Renaissance headlights and the photogravure of the dashboard clocks.

También pintamos el volante, arco de seguridad (ya mostrado anteriormente), entrada de aire del motor y palanca de cambios.

We also painted the steering wheel, safety bow (already shown above), engine air intake and shift lever.

Una ampliación de la palanca, fijación del volante y de los limpiaparabrisas, qie les he puesto un redondo de Evergreen en el eje de giro con un tornillo de resina de Masterclub:

An extension of the lever, fixation of the steering wheel and windscreen wipers, that I have put a round of Evergreen in the axis of rotation with a resin screw Masterclub:

A la cuna, le elimino la base del asiento derecho y le añado unas formas a modo de suelo del chasis:

To the cradle, I remove the base of the right seat and add some forms as a floor of the chassis:

Y pasamos a la pintura final de la carrocería: blanco brillante de Zero

And we went to the final painting of the body: Zero bright white

Después de ello, le doy un par de capas de barniz prediluido de Zero, para aplicar las calcas:

Aquí os muestro las calcas realizadas por Sergio de Decalab. Como veis, hay dos unidades de cada por si cometo algún error!!

Aquí vemos que las calcas no cuadran muy bien, pero eso lo solucionaremos con las calcas sobrantes del kit original que no pondré, que recorto y coloco encima en los lugares adecuados:

Ford Escort Gr2 – Peñacoba (ESCI 1/24) (III)

Otra entrada con los trabajos del Ford Scort Zakspeed. En este momento está imprimado en blanco:

Pero vamos a ver que pasos hemos dado hasta llegar a esto.

Poniendo la tapa del capó en la carrocería, vemos que no cubre todo el espacio, y hay que rellenar:

Ahora vemos las ruedas de Renaissance. Vemos que el fotograbado no encaja en las llantas traseras, y las llantas delanteras son más anchas que el neumático:

Now we see the Renaissance wheels. We see that the photogravure does not fit into the rear tires, and the front tires are wider than the tire:

Empezamos poniendo las delanteras en la fresadora para eliminar lo que sobra:

Y aquí vemos el resultado, aunque la llanta izquierda se ve que no ha salido como quería, pero tenía dos de sobra. También podemos ver, la tuerca central que he modificado, haciéndola menos profunda y lijando la base. A la derecha la modificada:

Una vez tenemos las llantas, tenemos que adaptar la fijación original. Pero primero, rebajo un tubo de aluminio por su interior, que será el nuevo eje.

En el caso del eje trasero, haré un taladro en el original blanco para meter el tubo de aluminio:

Once we have the tires, we have to adapt the original fixing. But first, I cut a tube of aluminum reducing its interior, that will be the new axis.

In the case of the rear axle, I will drill into the white original to fit the aluminum tube:

En el caso del eje delantero, sustituiré el eje blanco de plástico por el de aluminio, cortado a la distancia correcta:

Aun así, veo que los neumáticos traseros tienen mucho perfil y hay que rebajarlos puesto que este coche llevaba unos perfiles muy bajos. También aprovecho a gastar las delanteras.

Para ello, en la extensión del minitaladro y asi no sufre el eje degiro, pongo una llanta original con el tornillo de los disco de corte, y añado cinta de enmascarar para aumentar el diámetro y quepan los neumáticos:

Y vemos que ocurre montado. El eje trasero lo veo bien, pero el delantero, hay que bajar la carrocería 1 mm:

Os muestro el añadido del eje trasero: además del tubo de aluminio, le he puesto un tubo de latón, un poco más corto para que el fotograbado pueda encajar mejor y ayude a su fijación. También estará el disco de freno al que le he aumentado el diámetro interior para que entre el tubo de cobre:

Renault 5 Turbo Sainz 1983 Tamiya 1/24 (13)

Hoy una sorpresa del pasado que tenía arrinconada: el Renault 5 Turbo de Carlos Sainz de la Red Renault de Madrid y Provincia. Y esto es lo que tengo ahora:

Lo dejé recién imprimado después de bañarlo en líquido de frenos:

En ese momento, aproveché también a abrirle la rejilla vertical de los lados del portón trasero. Primero empezamos por agujerearlo con una broca..

En este momento, empezamos a poner las máscaras de las líneas blancas con cinta de 0,7 mm marca AIZU:

A este punto, una vez puestas las de los laterales, recortamos un trozo de papel de enmascarar del tamaño de los numerales, para que no se pinten los colores y se trasparenten sobre la calca del propio numeral:

Pero cuando fui a pintar, me doy cuenta que no coinciden las máscaras del techo y de la parte de detrás. Por lo que recoloco las del techo…

Y empezamos con la pintura. El orden será azul, verde, amarillo y rojo, y el proceso será: enmascarar todo lo que no sea azul:

Y pintamos suave con el azul de Vallejo diluido con alcohol:

And we painted softly with the blue of Vallejo diluted with alcohol:

Una vez seco, retiramos la máscara de los otros colores, tapamos el azul, y el amarillo y rojo:

Once dry, we remove the mask from the other colors, and then, we mask the blue, and the yellow and red:

Y pintamos con el verde X28 de Tamiya disuelto con X20A de Tamiya:

And we painted with the X28 green of Tamiya dissolved with X20A of Tamiya:

Una vez seco, lo mismo para el siguiente color, el amarillo Renault de N5:

Finalmente, al secar, vamos quitando las máscaras por orden..y voliá!!

Existen algunos fallos que son fáciles de subsanar, lógicos debido al laborioso trabajo de enmascarar, pero muy contento con el resultado!!

There are some bugs that are easy to fix, logical because of the hard work of masking, but very happy with the result !!

Ford Escort Gr2 – Peñacoba (ESCI 1/24) (II)

Seguimos con el Ford Escort Zakspeed. Y como en otras ocasiones, muestro como lo llevo actualmente, y después pongo el proceso y pasos ejecutados:

We continue with the Ford Escort Zakspeed. And as on other occasions, I show how I carry it now, and then I put the process and steps executed before:

En la carrocería, le añado tanto el vierteaguas que eliminé, como las gomas de los cristales. Para ello uso Evergreen de 0,25 x 0,5 mm, y pegamento Tamiya. En cuanto a las líneas de los paneles, las remarco con la parte trasera de un cutter.

In the bodywork, I add the glaze that I eliminated, and the rubbers of the crystals. For this use Evergreen 0.25 x 0.5 mm, and Tamiya glue. As for the lines of the panels, I remarked them with the back of a cutter.

A continuación, repaso las gomas añadidas, las líneas de panel, la unión del faldón delantero y el alerón trasero con Primer Surface de Mr Hobby y un pincel:

Then, I review the added rubber, panel lines, the joint of the front skirt and rear spoiler with Mr Hobby’s Primer Surface and a brush:

Después, repasamos con lija de grano 600

Otro punto que le caracteriza son los agujeros del faldón posterior, como vemos en la foto de la documentación:

Para ello, lo pinto primero con lápiz en un papel, lo superpongo sobre una pieza de Evergreen y punteo los agujeros con un punzón, dejando la marca en el plástico. Retiro el papel y hago los taladros correspondientes aumentando el grosor hasta que se asemeje al original:

To do this, I paint it first with a pencil on a paper, overlay it on a piece of Evergreen and punch the holes with a punch, leaving the mark on the plastic. I remove the paper and make the corresponding holes increasing the thickness until it resembles the original:

Una vez hecho todos los taladros, corto el plástico y lo fijo a la carrocería, y así hago los taladros con esa plantilla:

Pasamos al faldón delantero pues una vez pegado, no me asemeja al original:

Con tiras de Evergreen cuadradas, añado la base de la parte de abajo, y pego una tira con medio redondo a la altura del paragolpes:

Añado masilla epoxy para las uniones y los extremos. También rebajo la línea central del capó delantero y enmasillo y lijo las marcas que tiene en “X” en medio del mismo:

I add epoxy putty for joints and ends. I also recess the centerline of the front bonnet and add putty and sand the marks that have in “X” in the middle of it:

Una vez lijado, otra capa de Mr Surface a pincel para eliminar malformaciones:

Once sanding, another layer of Mr Surface with brush to remove malformations:

Aquí le tenemos listo para imprimar

Observamos las tomas de aire practicadas en el faldón delantero:

Y aquí la imprimación: parece que ha salido bien por esta foto, pero…

Es la primera vez que me pasa, pero se empezó a quebrar, quizás debido a mucha cantidad aplicada desde el aerógrafo:

Y como no estaba dispuesto a lijar, metí la carrocería en líquido de frenos:

And I was not ready to sand all the body so I put it in brake fluid:

Y a las dos horas, ya estaba eliminado todo resto de imprimación. Además, aproveché para abrir la calandra y los faros delanteros, para ajustar los faros, y posteriormente añadir el fotograbado de la rejilla por delante de los cristales, tal y como van en realidad:

And two hours later, all the the primer had already been removed. In addition, I took the chance to open the calender and the headlights, to adjust the headlights, and then add the gravure of the grid in front of the crystals, as they actually go:

Apliqué putty en algunos sitios y lijé:

I applied putty in some places and sanded:


 

Una segunda aplicación de imprimación, más lenta y precisa, nos da este resultado:

A second application of primer, slower and more precise, gives us this result:

A su vez, y mientra esperaba algún proceso, me he metido con el motor. Pegué las dos mitades del mismo, y al ver las tomas de admisión, entendí que se podían mejorar, usando conectores eléctricos:

At the same time and while waiting for some process, I got into the engine. I glued the two halves of the same, and seeing the intake sockets, I understood that they could be improved, using electrical connectors:

Y así lo hice. Aquí está lista para pintar. Ved que he puesto hilo de estaño al rededor de la toma de aire:

Ford Escort Gr2 – Peñacoba (ESCI 1/24) (I)

Corría el año 80,….esto me suena…creo que lo he dicho por algún lado…..OK, ya se: tengo un post aquí, de noviembre de 2015 donde hablo del coche que empiezo a hacer. El coche es el Ford Escort Zakspeed Gr2, que condujo Carlos Peñacoba en el Campeonato de Turismo de España…de 1980. Y aquí el link al post: http://blog.maquetea.com/?p=2832.

El coche en cuestión es este:

Por supuesto, el kit trae sus calcas que usaré para los colores azules (no todos!):

Y he encargado a Decallab las correspondientes al coche del campeonato nacional (dos juegos por que ya me conozco con las calcas!!)

Y por supuesto, una buena documentación de la época, que conservo encuadernada!!

Lo primero que hacemos es recortar todas las piezas para ver como encajan

Y al observar la carrocería, venos que el vierteaguas es ligeramente mas grueso. Lo eliminaremos y sustituiremos por Evergreen de 0,25 x 0,5 mm:

Lijamos los bordes por donde va la línea del molde:

We sand the edges where the mold line goes:

Y le hacemos más marcas, que con masilla, arreglaremos:

También rellenaremos de masilla el centro del alerón trasero:

We will also fill the center of the rear spoiler with putty:

Y el borde de ataque central del techo:

La carrocería, también tiene trabajo por dentro:

A su vez, también le hacemos las entradas de combustible y de algo más, que lleva la versión de Zakspeed en el maletero. Le taladro los agujero y le añado unos aros de un tubo de plástico de los que guardo de los juguetess antiguos de los chicos:
