There’s less left!!! But, let us start at the beginning. And now it was the turn to assemble the wheels and brake assemblies. First I mounted the discs and then the wheels.
But when I let it dry and tried it, I saw that the wheels came out a lot and left the body very separate from the ground: it was very high!!
Therefore, we measured how much they were protruding and had to take off the wheels and their brake assemblies. The first thing I did on the front axle was to enlarge the hole in the brake disc where the hub sits below, and thus glue it higher and therefore lower the body. In total it was 1 mm that you see in the first photo. Next, it was necessary to shorten the engine part where the brakes were placed, eliminating 4 mm en each side, which you see in the second photo. Once cut, I putty it and put a plastic sheet where I would stick the brake (third and fourth photo). On the brake disc, I enlarged the central hole so that a stem with a metal tip could be inserted from the outside. Why? Well, I would insert that stem to mark with the tip, the plastic that I put previously, which can be seen in the fourth photo. But you would also have to position the wheel well in height and centered horizontally, with respect to the body, fix it and then insert the stem from outside the rim and mark the center point. And doing it freehand could be very dangerous in case the wheel moves. Therefore, I used transparent double-sided self-adhesive tape, which I put on the hub (fifth photo). So, I put the wheel and then, insert the stem and marked the center. So I enlarged the hole with a drill bit so that I could insert that stem, and thus, glue the wheel with the stem in the middle:
In the following photos, I show you the tool I made to set the heights of the wheels, and how they would look on the body, with their corrected measurement:
To glue them, I used two-component epoxy glue. So, to align the wheels correctly, I put the chassis on my tool when the wheels were already on and before the glue dried. I did it in two steps, one for each axis.
And this is the result of the wheels fixed to the chassis:
Y aquí, con al carroceía puesta!!
And here, with the body on!!
The next thing was to paint the glass frames with Tamiya LP semi-matte black, making the window masks myself. I took the opportunity to paint the inside of the doors and some parts of the 1/43 cars:
Here we show you the doors in Tamiya LP satin black, and the frames and interior of the body, which were painted with Tamiya acrylic amte black, to easily eliminate possible errors in the masks:
Y este es el resultado:
And this is the result:
Also, I took the opportunity to paint the inside of the hood, which still had to be painted, in Tamiya LP white:
And we began to glue more things: to the cockpit to the chassis, where we see the intercom cables, tied to the arch with 0.5 mm black Hasegawa masking tape. You can also see that I have added some cables and a couple of pieces inside the front hood, to fill it a little more.

We are almost at the end, with the next thing being everything that refers to the bodywork: lights, doors, glass, closures, etc… Thank you for watching and commenting!!
Finally, I finish this project, being the first of this year 2024. Say that the kit is from ESCI and that it is really bad. The pieces don’t fit very well, the plastic is rough and lacks details like the wheels. But of course, there is no other kit and if we want to have it in our showcases, we have to use all our skills so that a decent kit comes out. In this case, the work done on the wheels and tires is worth it. Here you can see the final photos, with the finished rear light lenses. Say that I glued them with UV resin.
And now it’s time for the detail photos, starting with the engine. The valve cover that was made in resin for me a few years ago draws a lot of attention…
Y continuamos con el resto de detalles:
And we continue with the rest of the details:
Espero que os haya gustado!! Gracais por ver y comentar!
I hope you like it!! Thank you for watching and commenting!
Since December 2018, I haven’t done anything about this project!! And it was all because I was missing the rear light glass…but I’ll explain that later. I left the body like this, with everything glued together except for those rear windows: the trunk fixings, the mirrors, and the lowered glass on the driver’s side, the windshield wipers and the windbreaker:
Y a continuación, pegué el chasis. Os muestro primero unos detalles del coche…
And then I glued the chassis. First I show you some details of the car…
….to move on to complete photos of the car, and as I say, in the absence of the rear light glass:
The issue with the pending glass was because I was missing the taillight glass. I asked them to see if they would make them for me, but it was useless, so I decided to make them myself. At first, I tried to make some copies of another Ford Escort kit, but I gave up….
So I decided to make them with acetate. I took two pieces of 0.5mm transparent Evergreen, and held them close to a soldering iron until it allowed me to bend them (in the photo they look smoked but they are really transparent). Then, I cut them with a template made with masking tape over the gap in the body itself. I cut them out and refined them until I found the exact shape. At that point, I masked off to paint them inside and out, with orange and red permanent markers. I painted the edge with a black marker and the black stripes between the colors were made with very thin black masking tape, from Hasegawa:
And this is it. In the final photos of the next post, you can see how those crystals turned out!! Thank you for watching and commenting.
Just as I have added the photos of the Ford Escort and the VW Scirocco, which I had recently lacquered, I am attaching this new entry with the photos of the Porsche that I lacquered at the same time. Additionally, I am going to show other processes that I have been doing simultaneously.
But let’s start with the lacquering. Just as I did with the two 1/43 scale kits, for lacquering I used Number5 varnish, provided by Spotmodel. I mixed it in a 2 to 1 ratio as recommended by the manufacturer, although I added Number5 thinner because I ammore comfortable with a more liquid varnish. I applied two very thin coats, without any shine showing, and two wet coats where the shine that you see in the photos appeared. All the layers were separated by about 5 minutes. Here are some photos without the doors or the hood:
And another pictures with the doors and the hood:
I painted the dashboard with Tamiya’s LP satin black, adding the switches, the circuit breakers, and the fire extinguisher ignition from Decalcas. On the decals of the gauges, I placed a spread-out drop with a toothpick of UV resin.
We move on to the interior. We had the cradle painted black, to which I started adding cables according to the original photos I had of the car. Mostly, you can see the ones that are glued underneath the doors that correspond to the fuel lines: rear engine to the front tank. All these pipes are fixed with cyanoacrylate and tied together with stretched plastic. After that, I glued the fire extinguisher that comes with the photo-etched parts from Scalelab24. Finally, I glued the seats, the seat fixings, and I put a nut on the seat belt fixings.
I also placed various photo-etched parts from the Scalelab24 TK, corresponding to the pedals, handbrake, and the co-driver’s footrest. I installed the roll cage and the dashboard, with the steering wheel from DAB models!!
Now it’s the turn of the front hood. I’ve already shown some of the pieces I was working on, which appear in the following photo along with some others.
Y las vamos pegando.
And we are gluing them…
And after I had done a few, I decided to place the chassis on the body to see its effect:
But it was missing the filling with the spare wheel mount, which I am going to omit putting it in, so that the entire hood can be seen, which in principle, I consider finished:
Another detail that I am going to add are the side spotlights, provided by Ignacio Bas. Once painted, I attach the corresponding cable which also serves as a fixture on the body through a small hole. They also have upper mounts, already made but not shown in these photos because the spotlights are placed without being fixed:
Ah, and thanks to Mario who sent me other masks for the tire that I damaged:
And to finish, I show you the chassis, which includes the hood, along with the superimposed cradle:
